Awarded for his actions near the village of Trenci (Courland) in late 1944. During the Third Battle of Courland Drescher commanded a reinforced Sturm-Kompanie that held its ground over the course of five days of hard fighting, a time during which Oberleutnant Drescher launched multiple successful counterthrusts of his own. He and his men ultimately held their position against 11 Soviet attacks, with the final result being that Drescher prevented an enemy breakthrough. He was recognized for this achievement appropriately.
