Biography

Born during the exodus of the Wolga-German population from Saratow in Katharinenstadt, Samara governament on 21st Januari 1918. He followed the Volksschule in Überlingen and Darmstadt and the Ludwig-Oberrealschule in Darmstadt. Entered the Luftwaffe as volunteer on 26th August 1939 and followed the training as flugzeugführer-anwärter in Heiligendamm from 10th January 1940 and the Luftkriegsschule Berlin-Gatow from 1st April 1940. He fought at the Eastfront as pilot and Staffelkapitän. His last action was on 12th May 1944 with only two fighters against 250 American bombers. During this action he was shot down and killed over Fulda.
