Norman Sterrie flew the TBD Devastator torpedo bomber with Torpedo Squadron (VT-2) aboard the USS Lexington. Lieutenant Sterrie saw action at Tarawa, Kwajalein, Wake, Mille, Palau, Stotlandie, Wolease, Truk, Saipan, the Battle of the Philippine Sea, and Guam.
