credited with 1 Patrol and 13 days at sea
24.06.1943: south-west of Iceland, 'U-200' entered the air-raid zone of allied convoy ONS-11 and was spotted by British Liberator aircraft from Sqdn. 120/H while sailing on the surface. A first attack failed as the trigger of the depth charge jammed, but on a second attempt, the depth charge exploded right behind the submarine. The submarine had made no attempt to dive and was fighting back with gunfire. After the second attack, commander Schonder decided to dive and this proved to be a fatal decision as the 'U-200' was too much damaged. 'U-200' sank to the bottom of the Atlantic ocean with all 61 crew and 6 passengers on board S.W.of Iceland.
