Otto Elfeldt joined the 20 foot artillery regiment on June 27, 1914, with whom he went into the field on August 5, 1914. Promoted to lieutenant on January 27, 1915, he was transferred to the replacement battalion of the 20th Foot Artillery Regiment on November 9, 1915. On January 6, 1916 he was transferred to the 2nd Battalion of the 20 Foot Artillery Regiment and on August 20, 1917 at the same time as an orderly officer to the staff of the 20 Foot Artillery Regiment. Army Corps instructed. On August 20, 1944, he was taken prisoner near Falaise, from which he was released on January 20, 1948.
