Biography

Son of Kornelis Schuiling and Hillechien Trip, married to Johanna Maria Segeren, Captain of the Marines, residing in Rotterdam. On 13 May 1940, he led the attempt to clear the northern approach to the Maas bridges of Germans. He was awarded the MWO 4th class for this.

He ended up as a prisoner of war in Offlag XIII A in Stanislau and later in Offlag VII A in Neubrandenburg, where he died on 22 December 1944 as a result of illness. He was initially buried in the general cemetery in Neubrandenburg and, after positive identification, reburied on 10 June 1949 in the Field of Honour of the Crooswijk Cemetery in Rotterdam.
