Citation:
"For exceptional heroism in action against the enemy on 7 February 1945 in Germany. Captain Feery fearlessly exposed himself to accurate enemy small arms, mortar and artillery fire to successfully lead his rifle company in an attack against a fortified enemy town. When elements of his company were pinned down, Captain Feery, under direct fire, reorganized his company and led the assault on the town, directing house to house fighting. He organized defensive positions and held the captured town until relieved. The apparent disregard for intense enemy fire and firm determination of purpose displayed by Captain Feery set an inspiring example for his men. The extraordinary heroism and courageous actions of Captain Feery reflect great credit upon himself and are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service."
