At Le Mesnil on 8th June 1944 in Company attached this man showed a very high standard of leadership and courage in that he led his section from assaulting position across open field which was swept by fire and then onto objective. His section knocked out Light Machine Gun position. He was wounded on the thigh by a grenade on objective but still took his section to reorganisation area and was wounded twice more in so doing.
