Recommendation:
On 6 December 1943 during the attack of San Leonardo (MR330120) by “B” Coy. The Seaforth Highlanders of Canada, a handful of men were cut off and surrounded by the enemy. With them was a seriously wounded officer, Capt. Carter, the Artillery FOO working with the Coy.
With great courage and most skilful use of cover L/Cpl Teece worked his way through some 200 yards of ground controlled by the enemy to the place where Capt. Carter tlay.
Owing to his wound Capt. Carter could only move slowly and he had to be taken some 200 yards across, bullet-swept ground. With cool courage and determination L/Cpl Teece successfully completed the evacuation and by so doing saved the life of a valuable officer.
The bravery, initiative and powers of leadership displayed by this NCO were of the highest order and set a splendid example to the men with him.
