John Jarvis Cape, Jr. was born 1918 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. On February 7th, 1941 he enlisted at New York and was trained as fighter pilot. On September 26th, 1941 he graduated at the Air Corps Advanced Flying School, Maxwell Field, Alabama.
He was sent to active duty with the 11th Fighter Squadron, Aleutian Islands.
During a patrol over Dutch Harbor on June 4th, 1942 he was killed in action after first having made his first own kill.
