"At all times during the day, Corporal Boles led his section [of The Royal Hamilton Light Infantry] with dash and gallantry. He was particularly instrumental in silencing a beach pillbox, following which he led his men to help in the fighting in the Casino [at Dieppe on 19 August 1942]. Corporal Boles was particularly active in organizing defensive measures against snipers."
