    Period:
    Second World War (1939-1945)
    Rank:
    Acting Corporal
    Unit:
The Royal Hamilton Light Infantry, Canadian Army
    Awarded on:
    December 22nd, 1945
    Citation:
"Corporal Casey first came to the forefront as an exceptionally good Non-Commissioned Officer in Holland. He commanded a section of "Wasp" flame throwers, bringing these dangerous but effective weapons to bear with outstanding success on numerous occasions.
At Gravenpolder, Holland he led his section of "Wasps" against an enemy strong point, over open country which offered no protection of any kind. Although one machine was knocked out and several of his men wounded, the attack was pushed through so successfully that the Brigade group was able to continue with the work of clearing the Scheldt.
The gallantry and devotion to duty of Corporal Casey were a source of high satisfaction to the unit."
