Private First Class Leonard G. Pitts (Army Serial Number 34627872), Quartermaster Corps, United States Army, for distinguishing himself by meritorious achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States from 15 December 1944 to 8 April 1945, in Belgium and Germany. During four months of combat Pfc Pitts worked tirelessly to aid in the handling of prisoners of war. He remained at the wheel of his truck day and night for long hours without relief to evacuate captives from combat elements to the Division enclosure. His unflagging devotion to duty merits high praise.
