Technician Fifth Grade Clarence E. McGhee (Army Serial Number 34100263), Quartermaster Corps, United States Army, for distinguishing himself by meritorious service in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States from 15 August 1944 to 5 May 1945, in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Technician Fifth Grade McGhee's able and tireless efforts played an important part in maintaining the vital flow of materiel of war to front-line units of the Division. In his post as dispatcher, he often worked late into the night to see that each vehicle was safely on its way. For three days in the Battle of the Ardennes, Technician Fifth Grade McGhee, in the absence of officers, supervised the control and dispatching of supply convoys to our hard-pressed troops. The initiative, resourcefulness and devotion to duty he displayed are worthy of high praise.
