Technician Fifth Grade Allan B. Cumberbatch (Army Serial Number 39406484), Quartermaster Corps, United States Army, for distinguishing himself by meritorious service in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States from 16 August 1944 to 12 May 1945, in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Technician Fifth Grade Cumberbatch carried out his assignment as company mail clerk in an outstanding manner, although his work was greatly complicated by the constant movement of his unit. In addition to collection and distribution of mail, he handled thousands of dollars worth of money orders and assumed responsibility for insurance of post exchange supplies. To these varied and demanding duties Technician Fifth Grade Cumberbatch brought a willing spirit, ability and tireless effort which assured their successful completion.
