"During the operation at Dieppe, 19 August 1942, Private Dyke was attached to the Regimental Aid Post of the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry at Rear Battalion Headquarters where he displayed great courage and total disregard for personal safety while attending the wounded and getting them under cover. Although himself wounded early in the raid he continued to carry out his duties in a most efficient manner.
His conduct was of the highest order and drew the praise of many of his comrades. Private Dyke throughout the whole operation displayed great fortitude and devotion to duty."
