"Corporal Stock proved himself to be a fine leader of men and of great personal bravery throughout the fighting in Malaya. In particular at Kempar of 2nd Jan, when in an isolated position with his section and heavily attacked, he showed the greatest resolution, personally accounting for several of the enemy and holding his men together by his example and personality. He always volunteered without hesitation for any dangerous duties and showed the offensive spirit and great devotion to duty at all times, inspiring the greatest confidence by his example"
