During five combat patrols between May 12th 1941 and February 28th 1943, Ulrich Heyse was 311 days at sea and in that period he sunk 12 ships with a total tonnage of 83.693 BRT. In March 1943 he left as commander the U 128 and became a teacher at the Unterseebootlehrdivision. In March 1945 Korvettenkapitän Heyse received the command of the 32nd Trainings Flotilla. He stayed in this function till the German surrender a couple of months later.
