William served as navigator with the RAF in WWII and lost his life when his plane, Wellington MF397 69 Squadron, crashed behind the "Bokkerij"at Vaassen, Gelderland Holland.
Hit by German anti-aircraft fire over Deventer, Netherlands at 21:30 hours on 07.04.1945: Five crew members died instantly, the sixth crew member died after a week in hospital. The entire crew is buried at the General Cemetery in Vaassen.
