Wolfgang Breithaupt was killed in action on October 24th, 1942 when his ship "U 599" was sunk by aircraft form No. 224/G Squadron, protecting Convoy AHL44 at 46.07N / 17.40W. During 1 operational sail (59 days at sea) he did not sink any ship.
