During attacks against British shipping in the Channel his Staffel claimed a total of 92000 GRT sunk and 74000 GRT damaged. Of these, Skorczewski and his crew sunk eight ships. On the day he was awarded the Knight's Cross he also sunk a Soviet destroyer in the mouth of the Bug River.
