For having distinguished himself by extraordinary acts of tact and courage against the enemy by taking part flying an already obsolete C-X aeroplane, in the unprotected mission to Waalhaven on May 10th, 1940. After the bombardment having been attacked by a fighter aircraft; having made an emergency landing under enemy fire and trying circumstances. Moreover, for the voluntary mission to Rhenen and Wageningen having asked priority over a married colleague; having participated in this flight in the aircraft of the squadron commander and having completed the mission succesfully.
