"A woman was trapped in the wreckage of a bombed building. Warden Jarman crawled through smoke, fire and debris in an attempt to rescue her. He worked until overcome by fumes. When he recovered he went back and endeavoured to get into the cellars for further rescue work.
On several other occasions Jarman has shown great courage and has been instrumental in the saving of life."
