"This Officer has completed a second tour of operational duty during which he has attacked targets in both Germany and Italy including Genoa, Turin, Berlin, Hamburg, Kiel and the Ruhr valley.
Many of these attacks have been pressed home despite adverse weather and intense anti-aircraft fire and fighter opposition. Throughout, Flight Lieutenant Woolnough has set an example of skilful pilotage, cool judgement and determination."
