Biography

Hendricus Cornelis van Benthem lived in Amersfoort. He was born on July 5th, 1916 as son to Cornelis van Benthem (May 17th, 1889, Utrecht - October 9th, 1975, Utrecht) and Elsje Susanne Slaterus (February 9th, 1889, Duurkenakker, gemeente Muntendam - October 31st, 1937, 's-Gravenhage). He was Railway detective and member of the resistence. He worked on the resistence magazines Vrij Nederland and Trouw. He was arrested on September 27th, 1944 and executed with four others at Fortress de Bilt in Utrecht the same day.
