    Biography

Valk van Spiegel lived in Deventer, the Netherlands, at the Joh. Sinthenstraat 24. He was the son of butcher Abraham van spiegel (born 1851 Voorst - March 22nd, 1929 Deventer) and Betje van Engel (October 18th, 1860 Deventer - January 10th, 1938 Twello). He married on April 2nd, 1930 in Deventer with the non Jewish, German woman Marie Louise Schladen (born in 1905 in Dietrichsdorf). The couple had four children. His profession was sales representative and his faith was Dutch-Irsaëlite.
Valk van SPiegel was a member of the resistance under the safename Felix and was part of the LO-Deventer resistance group. He was arrested in Deventer on March 25th, 1945 and when the Allied troops neared Deventer, executed at the estate Oxerhof. This is probably why his place of death is adressed as Camp Oxerhof, in Gorssel. The execution was ordered by the Befehlshaber der SIpo und SD Dr. Karl Georg Eberhard Schöngarth, who was executed for war crimes in Germany in February 1946.
