Biography
Ibrahim Azem was a member of 3 SAS (1 Squadron) who was killed during Operation Amherst. Some sources indicate his last name was spelled as Asem.
Ibrahim was a paratrooper with a French regiment of the British Special Air Service, the SAS. In April 1945, he was dropped behind German lines in Drenthe in preparation for the liberation of the northern Netherlands. Ibrahim, aged 21, was killed in action during a battle near a farm barn in Zeijerveld. After the war, he was reburied in Kapelle, alongside other Muslims in the cemetery.

He has distinguished himself against the enemy by courageous and tactful conduct by having landed by parachute in Drenthe behind enemy lines in the night of April 7th and 8th, having participated in the ensuing fighting in a fearless manner during which he was killed. By this conduct he has contributed to the liberation of the Netherlands and in doing so has served the interests of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
