    Biography

Gerardus Hubertus Mestrom lived in Maasbracht at the Kloosterstraat, number A 56. He was the son of farmer Jacobus Joannes Mestrom (February 22nd, 1885, Maasbracht) and Maria Margaretha Hubertina Seegers (October 19th, 1885, Maasbracht – November 8th, 1946 Roermond) and worked as a gardner. Gerard Mestrom was one of few citizens of Maasbracht who were allowed to stay there, after by the end of 1944 all occupants of the village were evacuated. He was found dead on December 28th, 1944 at the Sint Joosterweg. Most likely he was shot by Germans.
