"For meritorious service in support of combat operations against the enemy in France, Belgium and Germany from 29 June 1944 to 25 April 1945. Cpl. LaCalle has, since landing in Normandy, France, shown exceptional devotion to duty, and coolness under fire. During the trek through Normandy, France, and Belgium he served as an assistant gunner. His tank destroyer up to the time of entry into Germany was credited with Ten enemy tanks destroyed. Cpl. LaCalle was made gunner and since then has been credited with destroying Four enemy tanks, One S.P. Gun, and Two A.T. Guns. Cpl. LaCalle's devotion to duty, coolness under fire and gunning ability reflect great credit upon himself and the Military Service."
