During this period he showed outstanding qualities of leadership and handled his command with great skill and coolness under difficult conditions. By his skilful handling he inflicted heavy casualties on German tanks on 26 Nov and again on German Inf on 11 Dec.

The task given to his force demanded a high standard of discipline and endurance; the excellent results achieved were largely due to this officers' personal example and unfailing cheerfulness under trying conditions."
