He has distinguished himself in the face of the enemy by organizing a large intelligence group in an orderly manner since January 1944 in the region of the southern Veluwe; in co-operation with the Intelligfence Office of the Dutch government. Further by having estalblished in a very short time in September 1944, in addtion to his usual duties, an independently operating group in the front region on both banks of the Lower Rhine between Arnhem and Culemborg and at the same time having managed to establish a direct telephone link with Nijmegen which has been of great value, among other things, to the deployment of artillery in the Allied war effort. Furthermore, when in November the line was cut, for having established for the second time a direct telephone link which has remained in use until the capitulation. For having rendered, by his conduct, valuable services to the Allied war effort and the Dutch government.
