"On 8th July 44, PTE BRANDON was a member of the leading section of his pl of B Coy, which was leading the adv of the Bn SOUTH from LOUCELLES. Spandau fire was opened up on the pl from the area of the station buildings and a post near the level crossing, and mortar fire came down on the road.
Pte BRANDON's section was ordered to eliminate the post near the level crossing. Although his section command and half the section were killed or wounded, Pte BRANDON, showing great dash and gallantry went forward himself, with one other man, to assault the post. Using grenades and firing the Bren from the hip, Pte BRANDON led the way, killed two GERMANS and destroyed the post."
