Jan Joan ten Cate was boron March 28th, 1918 as son to Jan Herman ten Cate (thee merchant in Amsterdam) and Johanna Maria Ferman. He married on December 1st, 1944 with Anne Marie Leijds (December 12th, 1921, Cheribon - December 6th, 2013, Eindhoven). The couple had two sons. In 1945 Jan worked as a civil worker in distribution and in 1955 as Inspection officer with the N.V. de Bataafsche Petrolerum Mij.
