"This officer has completed a large number of sorties, including attacks on such strongly defended targets as Berlin, Hamburg and industrial centres in the Ruhr. He has displayed great skill and determination throughout and his efforts have been worthy of the highest praise. On one occasion his aircraft sustained extensive damage when attacked by a fighter. In spite of this, Pilot Officer Moores skilfully out-mano3uvred the attacker and afterwards flew his damaged aircraft to base. His tenacity was highly commendable."
