K, 317th Infantry Unites States Army...awarded the Bronze Star Medal for heroic achievement in Germany on 10, April 1945 in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States. At Bindersleben Germany, Pfc Chambers braved mortar, automatic weapons and small arms fire in crossing four hundred yards of open and hazardous terrain in order to warn a rifle company of large numbers of approaching enemy, thus enabling his comrades to take effective measures to repel the hostile force. Pfc Chambers courage and devotion exemplify the highest traditions of the armed forces of the United States. Entered into Military service from Virginia.
