"On 21st April 1945 near Papenburg (MR 765025), Sjt.Łysakowski was out with the Recce Party of the 2nd Field Regiment when they were suddenly attacked by a german platoon (30 men strong) with machine gun fire and panzerfausts. The fire was intense and the men got under cover, leaving his cover and showing great Gallantry and complete disregard for danger. Sjt. Łysakowski counter attacked and with the help of a few other men was instrumental in the dispersal of the enemy and the taking of 14 prisoners".
