The squadron was then ordered to withdraw while the A tank Troop was given the task of holding the post and neutralising enemy fire.

In the meantime the troop command's tank destroyer was hit three times and had one track damaged, and the troop command gave orders to the next destroyer to tow hid tank out.

The tank destroyer in which L/Cpl. SAGIN was gun layer was left behind. In spite of very heavy fire from enemy mortar and guns, L/Cpl. SAGIN's tank did not withdraw but went on firing until L/Cpl. SAGIN had destroyed 2 enemy A tank guns.
