Biography

Janicki came to England in January 1940. In October 1940 he completed the pilot training in the British fighter plane the Hurricane. He was then assigned to the 32sqdn of the RAF. In 1941, Janicki transferred to the 302nd Polish Fighter Squadron, Poznanski. After many flights for the RAF, he signed up with the U.S. Air Force in May 1944 to fly in a P-47 Thunderbolt. A month later he crashed down in France after he had been in contact with a colleague about problems with his engine.

Janicki received after his death three bravery awards.
