Biography

"This Andrew was billeted with my parents at 24 Beatrixstraat in Breda. I was 10 years old. I also witnessed the construction of the NAC site opposite us. During the war, our street was also called "Speelveld -straat"! The name "Beatrixstraat" was prohibited.

Andrew was very welcome, of course, and we got along very well, even becoming friends.

He had an accident, (turned a jeep, if I remember correctly, on my mother's birthday, August 3. And on August 8, he passed away. I remember a lot of sadness at home! Been through the whole war and got through well! And then perished in liberated territory!"

- Frits de Keijsser
