"Flight Lieutenant Pearce has completed numerous sorties over enemy occupied territory. He has taken part in long range escorts and has also penetrated deep into Germany to attack bridges and other important targets. Since being appointed Flight Commander he has led his flight with great distinction and has destroyed eight enemy aircraft on the ground and also numerous motor vehicles and locomotives. This officer has always shown great keenness and determination and has never let either adverse weather or enemy opposition to deter him from completing his allotted tasks. "
