Recommendation:
For having distinguished himself in combat against the enemy in the late afternoon of May 13, 1940, acting as gunner of a heavy machine gun tl. of a platoon of 0,79 in anti-aircraft guns of the 9 Compagnie Luchtdoelmitrailleurs during a sudden attack by an enemy bomber on the emplacement near De Plantage in Culemborg.
In particular: as this aircraft had already strafed the emplacement and had dropped several bombs, by immediately and on his own intiative, when his heavy machine gun failed, going to the site of one of the pieces of 2 tl to deliver assistance when the bomber resumed the attack and he was fatally injured.

Royal Decree no. 9 dated 24 November, 1950.
Awarded posthumously.
