Recommendation:
He has distinguished hinmself in combat against the enemy by courageous and tactful conduct, serving the interests of the Kingdom, by serving as army chaplain during his military service in Indonesia as well as in Korea, putting the spiritual assistance of the soldiers first despite the dire circumstances he often found himself in.
To that end having completed parachute training in Indonesia and thus being able to accompany the parachutist units entrusted to his spiritual assistance.
Furthermore by volunteering as chaplan at the establishment of the Dutch Detachment United Nations in Korea, being aware that many soldiers he knew had reported for this as well.
Subsequently in Korea, where the troops lived under very difficult circumstances and particularly heavy privations by materially contributing to the maintenance of a high morale by his mental and spiritual support and guidance.
Hence by being an exemplary spiritual helper by his great personal chearfulness, paired with exceptional devotion to duty until he was killed on February 12, 1951, while fullfilling his task, during a sudden enemy attack near Hungsong, Korea.
