After landing at sea due to lack of fuel, he managed to reach the coast of Sumatra in a rubber boat with the other crew members and, after suffering many hardships due to lack of food and water, arrived at the coast of Java in a state of complete exhaustion, where he had to stay behind in Anjer while the others attempted to reach Tjilatjap.
He was betrayed to the Japanese and taken to Serang. In 1944, he was reported missing, presumably as a result of the torpedoing of a Japanese ship that was supposed to take him to Siam."
