Aanbeveling:
He has distinguished himself during the war against Japan in the month of April 1942 by exceptional deeds of courage and tact.
When in January 1942, following the landing of the Japanese on Manado, hostilities in the Minahassa had ceased, Timbolas, a retired soldier, initially had retreated into the woods where he decided, after having heard about the heinous atrocities of the Japanese, never to surrender but to try and form a gang which might support the Allies in an eventual landing.
On April 7, 1942, he ambushed a car with 4 Japanese officers, one was killed instantly, the other 3 later succumbed to their injuries.
Consequently, the Japanese threatened to burn down all neighboring hamlets in case Timbolas would not be handed over. An attempt was made to persuade Timbolas to surrender but he refused. During an ensuing fight he was mortally wounded and subsequently all perons belonging to his group were decapitated by the Japanese, including his wife and 2 sons.

Royal Decree no. 35 dated 2 March, 1948 (posthumously).
