"As air gunner, Warrant Officer Montgomery has participated in a very large number of sorties. Early in his operational career he was wounded in combat but his enthusiasm remained unabated. On one occasion, during an attack on Bochum, his aircraft was repeatedly attacked by enemy fighters. His skilful and determined work during the combats contributed materially towards frustrating the attackers. Warrant Officer Montgomery has displayed great fortitude and devotion to duty."
