Biography

Binne Roorda was born on May 4th, 1898 as the son to Philippus Roorda and Grietje Boelens.
Between October 1942 and early 1945 he hid eight Jewish men, women and children in his house at Ernst Casimirlaan 4a, Groningen.
Binne was arrested at his home on February 7th, 1945, but his refugees were not found.
After imprisonment at the Scholtenhuis and the Huis van Bewaring in Groningen, he was transported to Neuengamme in March 1945.
He died on April 25th, 1945 at Camp Sandbostel, four days before the
camp was liberated (April 29th, 1945).
