"For meritorious service in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States, from 15 March 1945 to 7 May 1945, in France and Germany. As Dental Surgeon for the Division Special Troops, Captain Lumbert cared for both surgical and dental injuries in a superior and highly skillful manner. In order to perform his duties more efficiently he conceived and executed directly to the units by means of a dental ambulance. Throughout the period of combat he assisted in setting up and moving the main and subsidiary aid stations and greatly contributed to the high standard of medical service maintained by the Divisional Headquarters and Special Troops."
