Biography

John was the son of Robert Day Hardy and Agnes Ann Hardy. He was the husband of Doris Hardy, of Kelmarsh, Northamptonshire.

John was with his crew on a mission to Berlin. They took off - 18:47 - from RAF Station Downham Market, Norfolk, UK with the Mosquito KB235 (coded 6T-A) and crashed - 21:45 - near the hamlet Hengeveld, 3 km southeast of Wijhe. Crash location 100 meter east of farm "De Wezenberg".

John was killed in action on December 6 1944 age 32 and he was buried at the general cemetery in Wijhe together with Flying Officer Pilot Graeme Weir grave 41-E-3.

He served with the 608 Sqdn. Royal Airforce Volunteer Reserve.
