"For meritorious service in combat from 10 September 1943 to 31 October 1944 in Italy and France. In the face of great difficulties and personal danger, Technician Fourth Grade Brown displayed outstanding initiative and devotion to duty. His resourcefulness in the practical application of his technical knowledge to the situation at hand was greatly responsible for the accurate and intense fire rendered by his battalion. Despite the danger of hostile artillery, Technician Fourth Grade Brown carried out his assigned missions and set an inspiring example for his fellow soldiers, on several occasions remaining on duty for over twenty-four hours at a time. Technician Fourth Grade Brown's actions reflect credit upon himself and the Army of the United States."
