He has been responsible to the Commander-in-Chief for appointments of the Commanders and Staffs of the Army Group. His exceptional knowledge of individual officers throughout the British Army and his untiring energy in visiting Commanders personally prior to and after D Day contributed largely to these appointments and being filled by the officers most suited to fill them. Through his efforts replacement of casualties has been carried out expeditiously. His work has contributed to the success of the operations culminating in the liberation of France."
